If you need a place to rest your head in England or Scotland… I can hook you up (I gots people in that neck of the world)! 🙂 This is a very adventurous adventure you are embarking upon. I wish you nothing but good vibes, safety, and FUN! I hope you find the answers to the questions that you seek, my dear! xoxo
That’s so generous of you to offer! Thank you. I might just take you up on that 🙂
Italy, Nepal, and Australia are my favorite countries, albeit quite different from one another. I greatly enjoyed your piece about leaving your PhD program. I left mine as well after I was diagnosed with breast cancer, had 3 surgeries, and my mother died – along with some unpleasantness that took place at my school. I left with a master’s in 2012 and still am angry about the unpleasantness. Like you, however, I believe there’s more than one way to accomplish meaningful things in life, and being inside the PhD box was too stultifying for me. So, my feelings are mixed, but I am now free to make my own way in the world without the baggage of that box! (FYI, I entered the program in my late 40s and am 52 now, so I had lots of pre-PhD life experience!)
Thank you for sharing your story, Maria. It sounds like you made the best decision for yourself overall. Bravo! Sending light and love to you on your journey.
